UNDP signed memorandum of understanding with King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to advance development activities in health sector

Riyadh - United Nations Development Programme signed a Memorandum of Understanding with King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center during Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum that took place from 1-2 March 2020. The aim of this collaboration is to advance development activities in health sector.

The objective of this cooperation is to strength in country capacity to achieve universal  health coverage, including by addressing the social, economic and environmental determinants of health, the interconnected challenges presented by communicable and non­communicable diseases as well as emerging threats to global health security such as antimicrobial resistance. Moreover, it will support multi-sectoral responses to health emergencies, as well as ensuring delivery of essential health services in fragile, vulnerable and conflict-affected settings.

Dr. Adam  Bouloukos, UNDP Resident Representative for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said that ‘ UNDP has been a critical partner to low and middle income countries in helping strengthen resilience and inclusiveness in health systems. This MoU is a clear indication that both UNDP and KSRelief are committed to supporting the vulnerable and disadvantaged.’
