Advisory Support to the Deputyship of Electricity Affairs, Ministry of Energy

Riyadh, 11 February 2020 – Dr. Adam C. Bouloukos, PhD, Resident Representative, United Nations Development Programme, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed an agreement with the Deputyship of Electricity Affairs, Ministry of Energy today. The project aims to provide comprehensive technical and advisory support to the Deputyship to improve its ability to implement its tasks, initiatives and plans, and to oversee the elaboration and achievement of its future strategic objectives.

The project contains a six-pronged strategy:

 

• Prepare and develop policies, strategies, and plans related to electricity sector, and supervise their implementation after the adoption.

• Prepare and conduct technical studies and consultations related to the electricity sector.

• Provide advisory services to support the implementation of awareness campaigns on the Deputyship's functions.

• Provide the administrative and technical support to the Deputyship's departments.

• Support the cooperation with national and international entities and authorities.

• Strengthen the capacity of the Deputyship.

The project will complement and accelerate efforts of Saudi Arabia to achieve the electricity goals of the Vision 2030, help meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while being compliant with the Paris Agreement on climate change.
