UNDP to support the Saudi socio-economic development

Riyadh, 6 May, 2019: UNDP, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, signed with HE Minister of Economy and Planning, Mr. Mohammed Al-Tuwaijiri, a two-year project document to support the ambitious Saudi socio-economic development.

The objective of the project is to create a strong foundation for efficient, evidence-based decision-making relevant to socio-economic development in line with the Saudi Vision 2030. This is conceived to be achieved through five specific outputs: 1) Supporting the social and economic development; 2) Sustainable development concept integrated into national policy; 3) National policies formulated for robust sector-based economic; 4) National policies for regional development; and 5) Capacity developed for strong computer systems.

It is worth mentioning that cooperation between Ministry of Economy and Planning and UNDP started in the earlier 1980s and is projected to expand in the future with the intend of Saudi Arabia to achieve its Vision 2030 as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
