The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ashok Nigam, strongly condemns the terrorist attack at a mosque in Qatif, in the town of al-Qudaih Saudi Arabia on 22 May 2015, resulting in the death of at least 21 people and injuring many others.
UNDP encourages local talents by hosting a photo gallery to mark World Environment Day

On the occasion of the World Environment Day, the United Nations Development Programme in Saudi Arabia held a photography exhibition titled “Our Environment, Our Kingdom” on the 5th of June, exhibiting the work of six Saudi photographers, who traveled through the undiscovered nature of the Kingdom. Ambassadors, diplomats, environmentalists and media viewed the work of the Saudi talents during the one day event.

Riyadh – UNDP Administrator Helen Clark met on Saturday with Prince Saud Al-Faisal Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during her visit to the Kingdom—the first by a UNDP Administrator. They discussed Saudi Arabia’s expanding support to global development efforts, particularly its assistance to humanitarian and post-crisis recovery all over the world and its recent pledge to recovery efforts in Haiti after the recent earthquake.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) was established in 1424H (2003) as an independent body to ensure safety of food and drug products in the Kingdom, reporting directly to the President of the Council of Ministers. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the lead agency in the UN for country level development cooperation, with over $5billion of activities each year in over 177 countries. UNDP started its presence in Saudi Arabia in 1966 and has supported capacity development projects in areas such as public administration, youth empowerment, energy and environment and economic diversification

Riyadh, the United Nations system is launching on the 8th of June 2011, a global campaign called “Stigma Fuels HIV” aimed to create awareness and to fight against HIV related stigma and discrimination. The UN system strives to become a model workplace in regard to HIV and for this reason it provides continuing training to its employees about HIV prevention, treatment and care options; and it has adopted advanced policies that ensure a fair and respectful environment.
